SPACE PARANOIDS is available as a native application for macOS and Windows. These let you run the game locally on your computer, and even fully offline... in a similar manner to the mobile version. Same game, just local on your machine instead of in a browser tab. :-)
Installing is really simple. Here's how to do it:
Macintosh
Not sure which one you need? Apple menu → About This Mac, and take a look at the Chip line.
- Download the DMG for your Mac.
- Double click the DMG to open it, then drag and drop the Space Paranoids app into your Applications folder in the window that appears.
- Open your Applications folder and double click the Space Paranoids app to launch it. The macOS gatekeeper may warn you that it's from an unverified developer... You can allow it to run in System Settings under Privacy & Security — scroll down and hit Open Anyway.
- After that, the game should launch. Enjoy!
Windows
- Download the Paranoids Installer and double click it.
- Windows SmartScreen will most likely pop up with "Windows protected your PC"... Click More info, then Run anyway.
- Run through the installer. You can pick where it installs and whether it's for everyone on the PC or just you. You'll get a desktop shortcut either way.
- Launch Space Paranoids from your desktop or Start menu. Enjoy!
iPhone, iPad and Android
No download needed here. Just open the game in your browser and add it to your home screen... Share button on iOS, browser menu on Android. You'll get a proper icon, it launches full screen, and it runs offline once it's loaded the first time.
About those warnings
Due to the self-developed nature of these applications, you may have to click "allow" or "run anyway" to get past the macOS gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen. This is just because I don't have the cash to purchase a signing certificate for either... :-)
What you'll need
Windows 10 or later, or macOS 10.13 or later. The game runs on WebGL2, so if the browser version already works on your machine, these will too.
